Why should you consider auditioning?
YOU should consider auditioning because the winners of the auditions will have the wonderful opportunity to speak in our rewarding conference. You will not only be selected to speak but you will also get direct feedback/evaluations from expert leaders and speakers. Your names and bios will also be written on our conference program, which is not only great exposure at our impactful event but you may also be invited as guests for our future events! Lastly, you will receive an amazing Master Class T-shirt, beautifully designed by our 2020 Leadership Masterclass Team. Audition Types:
Speaker
Taking on this role improves critical thinking, confidence and public speaking skills. Every speaker is a role model, and all speakers learn from one another's speeches, growing and improving their own skills in the process. As a meeting speaker, you prepare, rehearse and present a speech during the meeting that will then be evaluated by an evaluator. Speeches should be about 5-7 minutes.
Judge Criteria : You will be graded on four categories: Effectiveness (25%), Body Language (25%), Organization (25%) and Appropriateness (25%).
Submission : For the auditions, you must prepare a 5-7 minute motivational speech on any topic you may like. The video should be uploaded as unlisted to YouTube.
*This is a very high level speech and we absolutely do not expect you guys to speak at this level yet but notice how she uses vocal variety, hand gestures and anecdotes to make this speech entertaining/motivational for the audience.
Table Topic Speaker
Taking on this role improves confidence and impromptu speaking skills.Table topics are intended to help members develop their ability to organize their thoughts quickly and respond to an impromptu question. Those who do table topics will be given a random question that they must answer with little preparation. Your response should express your thoughts clearly, lasting one to two minutes.
Judge Criteria : You will be graded on four categories: Speech Development (30%), Body Language (30%), Organization (20%) and Appropriateness (20%).
Submission : During the live audition, you will be given a question that you must answer on the spot. Your response should be about 1-2 minutes. No preparation is needed beforehand but make sure to answer/address all parts of the question clearly.
*Notice how the table topic speaker automatically begins talking after given the question. You will have a few seconds to prepare but this really tests your impromptu speaking skills and how well you can speak on the spot.
Audition video for prepared speeches must be sent in by August 21, 2020 11:59 PM.
Table topic speaker auditions will take place on August 22, 2020 on zoom.
