CALLING FOR ALLYSHIP

This is a novel program engaging the future leaders of America  to help solving the rising problem our country is facing on division and hate and in the format of proposal writing contest. Other than all the amazing proposals we have received, this program also receive terrific art pieces from some Teen Artists in central Jersey to support the concept of "allyship". It is a program goes above and beyond the proposal writing contest. The major aspects of this program are planned and executed by our bright Gen Z Youth in our Committee.

Intro

PROGRAM BACKGROUND

In the last few years, there has been a rise in hate crimes targeting marginalized communities. At the same time, there has also been an increase in activism, call-for-actions, and media exposure nationwide and worldwide. The truth of the matter is, racism exists, xenophobia exists, homophobia exists. There is hatred where there is little understanding, but with allyship, injustices and prejudice can be addressed for a better tomorrow.

The central objective of our program, Gen Z Proposal Writing Contest Program, is to call for allyship and emphasize the importance of allyship in our communities. In our approach to call for allyship, we first became someone else's ally first, through sponsoring and attending a youth-led AAPI Heritage Month initiative called Celebrasian Cultural Festival on May 23 in Princeton, NJ. Jaclyn Lee, co-founder of iHub at D-I-C-E, was invited to speak in the Celebrasian Cultural Festival together with two bright talents. Our next step in calling for allyship was to initiate and host our own program: The Gen Z Proposal Writing Contest.

WHAT IS ALLYSHIP?

Allyship comes in various forms. Whether someone promotes the interests of their own marginalized groups or another, allyship helps create a more equitable future for everyone. By calling attention to anti-Asian hate, one can encourage more inter-racial understanding, unity, and cooperation. Empowerment and advocacy should not be isolated to members of a particular marginalized community and instead is an opportunity for greater understanding and awareness.
